by tech guru on 24 Oct 2011

In regards to smart phones and tablet PCs, Apple and Google have been heated rivals in the battle. Today it is Apple’s iOS versus Google’s Android. You could want to use Google’s products on your iPad or iPhone. Hopefully, you could do it for both. In case of the iPad, it uses the same operating system as the iPhone and the iPod touch. On Google’s website, you could read on how to set up Google synching with your iPad.

The very first thing you need to do is to check your iOS operating system. And this could be done in settings. In this case you have to make sure that the system is at least iPhone OS 3.0. If that is not the case, you will need to update the operating system. This is the first thing for you to do. Hopefully, this could be done at any given time by just going to the Apple website in regards to the iPhone.

After that you need to go into your settings. It will be on the home screen of your iPad. Here you need to open up the section ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’, where you have to select ‘Add Account’. From there, you choose ‘Microsoft Exchange’. But still there is an addition step to take in case you are not allowed to add the second account. If this is your case, then use the following ‘CalDAV’ and ‘IMAP’.

The former is used for Google Calendar and the latter is used for Gmail.

For the former, open your settings and read the process as if you were trying to synch Google with the iPad. In ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ add the account. Choose ‘Other’ and add the ‘Add CalDAV Account’.

And for the latter, the process is absolutely the same, in ‘Add Account’ just choose ‘Gmail’.

These steps are needed only if you are not allowed to enter a second account.
