This is a feature which allows Windows operating system to original manufacturer settings without affecting any files.  By doing this all operating system files will retain its original value. All the windows updates will be removed. You will have to re-install these updates once the process is complete. Doing a PC Refresh is not supposed to destroy the installed programs, documents, music files or movies.
