Recently, I came across a problem where the Edge browser was broken beyond repair. The problem was so bad that there is no way to open Edge in any ways. Every time when Edge is reopened, it opens with a blue screen stop error. In the given scenario, the final option is to Reset to the original manufacturer settings. Unfortunately, there is no reset button for Edge like Internet explorer.

Since there is no way to reset Edge, the only option is to remove and install Edge App.

How to remove and install Edge browser

  1. Go to C:\ Users\ %username%\ AppData\ Local\ Packages\ Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe. There will be lot of folders in this location. Clear all files from the location.
  2. Open PowerShell and execute the following command
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
    Note: PowerShell needs to be opened with administrator privileges or else there will be an error message.

Hope this should fix the problem. Share your experience in comment sections.
