How to start Windows 8.1 in Safe Mode

Safe Mode is an essential troubleshooting tool for every windows owners. It is part of the advanced windows troubleshooting mode. Till Windows 8, going to safe mode is simple, just keep tapping F8 and there will be a screen to select any of the advanced windows troubleshooting mode.

From Windows 8, the steps are still easy but done in a different way.

Here is a step by step method to start Windows 8 in safe mode

  1. Open charms window by pressing WindowsKey + C
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Change PC settings
  4. Click Update and Recovery
  5. Click Recovery
  6. In the section Advanced Start , click Restart Now
  7. Select Choose an option , click Troubleshoot

  9. Click Startup Settings

  10. Click Restart

In this screen, you will get all the safe mode options. Use the number related to which troubleshooting mode you prefer. If you prefer to troubleshoot without needing an internet connection, try safe mode with networking. Or else, simply Safe Mode is enough.

Windows 8.1 will now start in the mode you selected. Once the troubleshooting is done, right click on Windows button, click Update and restart.
