It is possible that you may get locked out in iCloud if you forget and enter the wrong code number of times. The password is 4-digit PIN like the ones that is used in ATM.

On your iPhone, the error message looks like below

Security Code Incorrectly Entered Too Many Times. Approve this iPhone from one of your other devices using iCloud Keychain. If no devices are available, reset your iCloud Keychain.

On your Mac, the error message will be like this

Your iCloud Security Code has been entered too many times. Approve this Mac from one of your other devices using iCloud Keychain. If no devices are available, reset iCloud Keychain.

If you have another device which can access your iCloud Keychain, follow the steps below

 

Unlock iCloud Keychain on iOS devices

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to iCloud > Keychain > Advanced
  3. Select Change Security Code
  4. Enter your Apple ID
  5. Enter the new iCloud Security Code

Unlock iCloud Keychain on Mac devices

  1. Click Apple Menu
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Click iCloud
  4. Select Options next to Keychain
  5. Select Change Security Code
  6. Enter new iCloud Security Code
  7. Open the device where iCloud Keychain was disabled
  8. Tap Settings > iCloud > Keychain
  9. Turn on iCloud Keychain
  10. Enter the new Pin and start using iCloud Keychain again

 

If you don’t have any other device which can access your iCloud Keychain, follow the steps below

 

Unlock iCloud Keychain on iOS devices

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to iCloud > Keychain > slide iCloud Keychain
  3. Enter your Apple ID and password
  4. Tap Approve with Security Code
  5. Tap Forgot Code
  6. Tap Reset iCloud Keychain > Reset
  7. Create new PIN

Unlock iCloud Keychain on Mac devices

  1. Click Apple Menu
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Click iCloud > Keychain
  4. Enter Apple ID and password if needed
  5. Click Use Code
  6. Choose Forgot Code
  7. Click Reset Keychain to reset the PIN
  8. Follow the instructions to create a new PIN
