Shutting down computer the normal way is not at all a complicated process. All you need to do is click on Start button, then click Power icon and then select Shutdown. This is not a time-consuming process and anyone can do it.

But there are times when you just finished work and getting late to catch the next train, we end up wishing for a single push button which can initiate and finish the entire shut down process.

Yes, it is possible to create a single push button to initiate shutdown. Just create a shortcut on the desktop and point it to system shutdown button.

  • Right click on Desktop
  • Click New
  • Click Shortcut
  • Enter the file location as %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe
  • Give a name of your Choice
  • Click Finish

The shortcut will be displayed on the Desktop. The next time when you want to shut down computer, just double click on the icon. The shutdown process is now initiated.
