If you want to know the power of a mobile phone, then check its processor. A powerful processor is able to process information more quickly which improve the overall performance of mobile phone. Mobile phone manufactures now have enough option to choose which processor needs to go inside a specific phone model. Some of the well-known names are Qualcomm, Intel Arm processors, MediaTek etc.
However, some mobile manufacturers prefer to use their own processors. These manufacturers decide the specification such as speed, number of cores and size of processor which fits into their mobile phone design. For e.g., Samsung use Exynos series of processors for their high-end models, Apple use A series processors and Huawei use Kirin series of processors.
Xiaomi is also going to join the list of mobile manufacturer with their own processor. A recent leak revealed that the upcoming mobile phone model from Xiaomi Mi 5C will be equipped with Pinecone processor. The processor is developed by Xiaomi owned Pine Cone Electronics.
From whatever information is available, the latest Pinecone processor will come in two models – V670 and V970. The V670 is for the low-end phones and V970 for high-end phones. Both models are designed on octa core architecture. Xiaomi Mi 5C is rumored to be equipped with V670.
V670 is equipped with four larger Cortex-A53 cores and four smaller Cortex-A53 cores. The GPU is powered by Mali-T860MP4 GPU which runs at 800MHz clock speed. The processor speed is at 2.2 GHz speed. The processor is built using 28nm manufacturing process.
V970, the higher end version is equipped with four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex A-53 cores. The processor is rumored to reach 2.0 GHz speeds with maximum speed up to 2.7 GHz. The GPU is powered by Mali- G71MP12 GPU which runs at 900MHz clock speed. The processor is built using 10nm manufacturing process.
