Every Android device use a unique identifier called Advertising ID. Advertising ID is a combination of numbers and it is unique for every Android device. This is used as a reference for advertising purpose.
App developers use the advertising ID API to identify between different Android device which helps them to target advertising. Every App downloaded from Google Store is designed to use this advertising ID for the purpose of displaying targeted ads.
Why reset advertising ID on Android
Google use advertising ID to create a profile for your device. This profile is created depending on your search and browsing habits which helps Google Apps to display targeted ads. After some time, it is possible that Google Apps may still show ads based on searches that you did in the past which is no longer relevant to you. In this case, you may reset the advertising ID to help Google create a new profile which can be used to show relevant ads.
How to reset advertising ID on Android
- Open Settings
- Go to Google
- Under Services, open Ads
- Click Reset advertising ID. Confirm your action by clicking OK
