US sanctions are seriously threatening the future of the Chinese company, Huawei. Huawei is one of the most undervalued flagships smartphone released recently. In this article, we will cover the different features of Huawei P30 and check if it is worth buying.
Huawei P30 Design
As you know, Huawei’s flagship P-series comes in two models: the P30 Pro and the P30. If the first one is made in the same form factor as the Mate 20 Pro, then the second one has a body like that of the P20 Pro. Due to the rounded edges and compact dimensions, the Huawei P30 is very comfortable to use even with one hand. For clarity, we say that the size of the P30 is slightly larger than the iPhone Xs. Build quality is excellent, everything feels extremely monolithic.
The back cover is made of durable glass. It housed all three camera modules, a two-tone flash, and the Leica logo. The case itself is protected only from splashes according to the IP53 standard, so you should not submerge the smartphone in water. In Russia, the device is available for purchase in two unusual colors: light blue and northern lights.
At the bottom, there is an ordinary speaker, microphone, USB Type-C charging connector and a favorite 3.5-mm mini-jack with which you can listen to WAV and FLAC music.
On the right side, we have volume control and a device unlock button.
On the left is a tray for two SIM-cards. You can also insert a Nano SD card into it, which will expand the memory by an additional 512 GB.
Huawei P30 Display
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.1-inch display with a resolution of FHD +, which gives a picture of excellent quality with excellent color reproduction, good viewing angles and a large margin of brightness. The screen has no rounded edges, so there will definitely not be any false presses on the edges. Thanks to the OLED-matrix in the screen managed to embed a fingerprint scanner. The recognition accuracy is quite high and is comparable to the Mate 20 Pro. Above there is a drop-shaped notch under the speaker and the front camera, with which you can unlock on the face. It is worth noting that in this model there is no IR sensor, so in the dark, you are unlikely to unlock the smartphone in the face.
Huawei P30 Processing
Huawei P30 runs on the top eight-core processor Kirin 980, manufactured by 7 nm process with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal. Responsible for the graphics chipset GPU Mali-G76 MP10. There is enough iron with your head to play with high FPS at the highest settings in such top games as Asphalt 9, Injustice 2, WoT Blitz and PUBG. The whole system works on Android 9.0 with the EMUI 9.1 shell installed on top, which has a lot of useful functions. For example, the power saving mode allows you to get an additional 1-1.5 hours of work without a noticeable loss in performance. The interface itself is fast, nothing freezes.
Huawei P30 Camera
The Huawei P30 received three Leica camera modules: a 40-megapixel main with a SuperSpectrum sensor and an f / 1.8 aperture, a 16-megapixel wide-angle with an f / 2.2 aperture and an 8-megapixel telephoto with an aperture of f / 2.4. The front camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels with an f / 2.0 aperture and with it, you can make quite high-quality selfies.
Also, the P30 supports the technology of artificial intelligence, which itself determines what is now in the frame and, depending on this, selects the required shooting mode and processing style. Compared to the Mate 2 Pro, the detailing in the images has significantly increased and the autofocus improved.
Huawei P30 Battery
The battery capacity is 3650 mAh, and in combination with the energy-intensive OLED-display, the P30 can work for about 8 hours of active work. The smartphone supports SuperCharge 22.5 W fast charging technology, which allows you to charge from scratch in just an hour. The result is really impressive. Of the minuses worth noting the lack of wireless charging.
Huawei P30 Conclusion
Huawei P30 is a great flagship with the most convenient dimensions. It has a beautiful design, 6.1-inch display with good color reproduction, high performance, great cameras, capacious battery, fast charging, and headphone jack. Of the minuses, we identified the lack of stereo speakers and wireless charging. P30 is suitable for those who appreciate practicality, and do not want to overpay for a display with curved frames and other not the most necessary technical features.
