VirtualBox is a cross platform virtualization tool. In layman terms, it allows having a computer inside a computer. It supports both AMD and Intel based computers and support wide range of operating system for different flavors of Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

Minimum Requirement for installing VirtualBox
VirtualBox is cross-platform and support wide range of Hardware and OS. However there are couple of important points.
- If the computer hardware support hardware virtualization, enable it in BIOS
- VirtualBox runs even with at little as 512MB, but can be painfully slow based on which type of OS is running . Optimum RAM will the RAM requirement for host OS + RAM requirement for the guest OS. For e.g, if you want to install Ubuntu using VirtualBox inside Windows 8.1, then the optimum RAM for virtual box will be RAM required for Windows 8.1 + RAM required for Ubuntu.
How to install VirtualBox on Windows 8.1
- Download VirtualBox.
- Install it. Run as Administrator
