WhatsApp can sometimes contain sensitive conversations that not everyone needs to see. In the latest version of WhatsApp, it is possible to lock the app with your fingerprint.
WhatsApp lock with your fingerprint
An important new feature has been added to the latest beta version of WhatsApp. In version 2.19.221, users are offered the option to lock the application. This can then be unlocked with a fingerprint. This way your conversations remain private when someone takes your phone off or when you show it to someone else.
- Open WhatsApp
- Click 3 dots on the upper right corner
- go to Settings
- go to Account -> Privacy
- Find the Fingerprint Lock. Turn it on
- Choose if you want to apply Fingerprint lock, after 1 minute or after 30 minutes.
The calls received via WhatsApp’s call function can be answered without using the fingerprint. You can also choose whether you want to show the content in notifications, or whether you want to keep this hidden.
At present, the fingerprint lock in WhatsApp is not yet usable for everyone. This is only available in WhatsApp 2.19.221, a beta version. You can get the APK or register for the WhatsApp beta program. Once the tests are completed and bugs are fixed, the new feature will be added to WhatsApp through the Play Store using updates.
