WhatsApp developers are working on updating the desktop version of the messenger, which can be used without having a smartphone nearby. According to the WABetaInfo twitter blog, this will be possible thanks to the “new multi-platform system” on which the application will be built.
The same system will allow you to connect one WhatsApp account to different devices. For example, iPad owners will be able to use the messenger (when the client is released on Apple tablets), without removing it from the iPhone, and use the same account on iOS and Android. The launch time of the new function is not specified.
The web version of WhatsApp was released in 2015. Without a smartphone connected to the Internet, you can not use it. To activate the application, go to web.whatsapp.com, open the application on your smartphone, select WhatsApp Web in the menu and scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen.
